IPTV Smarters Pro setup comes down to one screen: after you install the app, you choose how to log in, then enter the details your IPTV service sent you. There are three ways to do it: an Xtream Codes API login (server URL, username, password), an M3U playlist URL, or a playlist file loaded from your device. This guide walks through each one on any device, explains what the “server URL” actually is, and shows how to load the TV guide and add a second playlist.
Still need to install the app? Our guide on how to install IPTV Smarters Pro on Firestick covers the install itself. This page starts once the app is open.
Before you start: what you need
IPTV Smarters Pro is a player made by WHMCS Smarters. It ships with no channels, and the developer does not sell TV subscriptions. So “how to subscribe to IPTV Smarters Pro” really means two steps: buy a subscription from an IPTV service, then log in to the app with the details that service gives you. Our explainer on what an IPTV Smarters subscription really is goes deeper, including why many websites misuse the Smarters name to sell service.
Have these ready from your provider’s welcome email:
- For Xtream Codes: a server URL (sometimes called portal URL or host), a username and a password.
- For M3U: one long playlist link, plus an optional EPG (guide) link.
- For a file: an .m3u or .m3u8 file saved on the device.
If you are still choosing a service, our own plan, IPTV Journal, is 12 months for $89 and sends both an Xtream login and an M3U link, so you can use whichever option below suits your device.
The three login options compared
The exact button names vary by app version and platform, but at the time of writing the add-user screen typically offers an Xtream Codes API option and a playlist option that accepts either a URL or a file.
| Login type | What you enter | Live TV, movies, series | TV guide | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xtream Codes API | Server URL, username, password | Separate sections, well organized | Usually loads automatically | Most users |
| M3U playlist URL | One long link | Often mixed together | May need a separate EPG URL | Providers that only give M3U |
| File from device | A saved .m3u file | Static list, no auto updates | Separate EPG URL needed | Offline or one-off lists |
Use Xtream Codes whenever your provider offers it. Our guide to the Xtream Codes login explains why it tends to give cleaner categories and a working guide with less effort.
Option 1: log in with Xtream Codes API
- Open IPTV Smarters Pro and accept the terms if asked.
- On the add-user or list-users screen, choose Login with Xtream Codes API (or similar wording).
- In Any Name, type a label you will recognize, such as “Living room” or your provider’s name. This is just for you.
- Enter the username and password exactly as sent. They are case sensitive, and copied text often picks up a trailing space.
- Enter the server URL, for example
http://example.com:8080. - Tap Add User or Login. The app downloads live channels, movies and series, which can take a minute on large lists.
What the “server URL” is, and the most common mistakes
The server URL is the address of your provider’s panel: a protocol, a domain and usually a port. It is not the provider’s website and not a full playlist link. Most failed logins come from small formatting slips:
| Mistake | Example of wrong entry | Try instead |
|---|---|---|
| Missing protocol | example.com:8080 | http://example.com:8080 |
| Wrong protocol | https://example.com:8080 | Use exactly what the provider sent; many panels use plain http |
| Missing port | http://example.com | http://example.com:8080 if a port was given |
| Trailing slash or path | http://example.com:8080/ or .../get.php?... | http://example.com:8080 |
| Pasting the M3U link here | http://example.com:8080/get.php?username=... | Use Option 2, or pull the domain and port out of it |
A useful trick: an M3U link from an Xtream panel usually contains the server, username and password in plain sight. The part before /get.php is your server URL.
Option 2 and 3: M3U playlist URL or file
- On the add-user screen, choose the playlist option (often labeled Load Your Playlist or File/URL).
- Give it a name.
- Select M3U URL and paste the full link, or select File and browse to the saved .m3u file.
- Tap Add User and wait for the channels to load.
A URL refreshes from the provider each time it loads, so channel changes come through automatically. A file is a snapshot: if the provider changes stream addresses, the file stops working until you replace it, so use the URL whenever you have one.
Loading the EPG (TV guide)
With an Xtream login, the guide data usually comes from the same server, and Smarters fetches it on its own. If the guide is blank, look for an option such as Install EPG, Refresh EPG or an EPG entry in Settings (names vary by version), run it, and give it a few minutes.
With an M3U login, the guide may need its own link. Some providers embed it in the playlist; others give a separate XMLTV address such as http://example.com:8080/xmltv.php?username=...&password=.... Add it where your version offers an EPG source. If the guide still shows “no information”, our EPG not loading fix covers clock settings, time offsets and channel matching.
Adding a second playlist or user
Smarters keeps each login as a separate profile, which is handy for a second service, a backup line, or a family member’s account.
- Go back to the List Users screen (often via the logout or switch-user icon on the home screen).
- Tap Add User or the plus icon.
- Pick Xtream or playlist and fill in the details as above, with a different name.
- Switch between profiles from the same list. Only one is active at a time.
Keep in mind that most subscriptions limit simultaneous connections. Adding the same login on three devices does not give you three streams if your plan allows one.
Getting it right on different devices
The login screens look much the same across Android phones, Android TV, Fire TV, iPhone and smart TVs, but a few practical tips help:
- TV remotes: typing a long URL is slow. Prefer Xtream (three short fields), or use a phone keyboard app if your TV platform offers one.
- Apple devices: the Apple version has been published as Smarters Player Lite; check the publisher name before installing, because lookalike apps exist.
- Smart TVs: availability on Samsung and LG stores varies by region and model, so check your TV’s own store.
- Any device: install only from an official store or the developer’s own site, never from a site selling “Smarters subscriptions”.
Quick checklist when the setup does not work
- Re-type the server URL by hand: protocol, domain, port, nothing after it.
- Retype the password instead of pasting it.
- Confirm the subscription is active and not already in use on another device.
- Try the same details in a second player to see whether the problem is the app or the service.
- Clear the app’s cache or reinstall, then add the user again.
FAQ
What is the IPTV Smarters Pro server URL?
It is the address of your IPTV provider’s server, made of a protocol, domain and usually a port, such as http://example.com:8080. Smarters does not have a server of its own; it comes from the service you subscribe to. If you never received one, ask your provider.
How do I subscribe to IPTV Smarters Pro?
You do not subscribe to the app itself for channels. You buy a subscription from an IPTV service, which sends you an Xtream login or M3U link, then you enter those details in Smarters. Be wary of sites that claim to be the official Smarters provider, because the developer does not sell TV service.
Should I use Xtream Codes or M3U in Smarters?
Use Xtream Codes if your provider offers it. It usually organizes live TV, movies and series into clean sections and loads the guide automatically. M3U is the fallback when Xtream is not available.
Can I add more than one playlist to IPTV Smarters Pro?
Yes. Each login is saved as a separate user profile, and you switch between them from the list-users screen. Each profile still counts against its own subscription’s connection limit.
Why does Smarters say my login is invalid when the details are correct?
The most common causes are a mistyped server URL (wrong protocol, missing port or a trailing slash), a hidden space in a pasted password, or an expired account. Retype everything by hand, then test the same details in another player.
