If your IPTV audio is out of sync, the delay can come from one of four places: the channel itself, your player app, your streaming device’s audio output, or the TV and soundbar chain. The quickest way to fix it is to work out which one by testing other channels and apps, then correct it at that point rather than stacking delay settings everywhere.
Quick diagnosis: where is the delay coming from?
| Test | If the sync is wrong… | Then look at |
|---|---|---|
| Switch to three other IPTV channels | …only on one channel | That stream (provider side) |
| …on every channel | App, device or sound system | |
| Play YouTube or Netflix on the same device | …in those apps too | Device audio output or soundbar |
| …only in the IPTV app | Player settings | |
| Mute the soundbar, use TV speakers | …sync is fine now | Soundbar, ARC or Bluetooth delay |
Also note whether the sound is early (you hear words before lips move) or late. You will need this when adjusting a delay setting.
Cause 1: a single channel is out of sync
If one channel drifts while others are fine, the stream was encoded or relayed with an offset. You cannot fix the source, but you can work around it.
- Switch channels and come back. Restarting the stream often resets a drift that built up over time.
- Try the channel in a different quality version if your provider lists more than one (HD, FHD, 4K).
- Report the channel name and time to your provider. A well-run service will correct the source.
- As a temporary fix, use your player’s audio delay control (see below) just for that channel.
Cause 2: the player app
VLC
- Press J or K during playback on a computer to shift audio by 50 ms per press. One key moves audio earlier and the other later; press a few times and watch the result, since the direction is easy to mix up.
- For a precise value, use the track synchronization panel under Tools, Track Synchronization, and set the audio track delay in seconds.
- The setting applies to the current session, so a problem channel may need it again next time.
TiviMate
- Open Settings, then Playback, and check the Audio decoder and Video decoder options. Switching the audio decoder between hardware and software is a quick test for drift on Android TV and Fire TV.
- If you use Auto frame rate, try turning it off. Display mode changes can cause brief sync glitches on some TVs.
- Restart the channel after each change.
IPTV Smarters Pro
- Switch the Stream Format between HLS and MPEG-TS in player settings if your provider supports both.
- Change the default player option and test again; different players handle audio clocks differently.
- Use the app’s Clear Cache option after changes.
If one app keeps causing trouble, our ranking of IPTV players lists alternatives worth trying. Remember that player apps ship no channels; they only play what your provider supplies.
Cause 3: the Fire TV or streaming device
If YouTube and other apps are also off on the same device, fix it at the device level so every app benefits.
- Fire TV AV Sync Tuning: go to Settings, Display & Sounds, Audio, AV Sync Tuning. Follow the on-screen test, which plays a click with a bouncing ball, and adjust until they line up. On some models this tuning is for Bluetooth audio devices.
- Surround sound format: under the Fire TV audio settings, try changing the surround sound option from Best Available to PCM or Dolby Digital. Format conversion in a soundbar or receiver can add delay.
- Restart the device after changing audio settings (Settings, My Fire TV, Restart).
- On Android TV and Google TV devices, look for similar audio output or surround sound format options in the device’s sound settings; names vary by model.
Cause 4: the TV, soundbar or Bluetooth
- Bluetooth headphones and speakers add delay by design. Use the device’s AV sync option or the headphone’s low-latency mode if it has one.
- Soundbars and receivers often have a Lip Sync, AV Sync or Audio Delay setting. Use it when sound is late.
- TV picture modes with heavy processing can delay the picture so the sound is early. Try Game mode or turn off motion smoothing and see if sync improves.
- HDMI ARC or eARC: make sure HDMI-CEC and ARC are enabled on both the TV and soundbar, and use the HDMI port labeled ARC.
A sensible order to fix it
- Restart the channel and the device.
- Test other channels and other apps to locate the delay.
- Fix it at the source of the delay: provider, player, device or sound system.
- Use only one delay adjustment if possible; adding offsets in the player, the stick and the soundbar at the same time makes things harder to tune.
- If sync drifts slowly over a long viewing session, restarting the stream is often more reliable than a fixed offset.

FAQ
Why is the audio on my IPTV ahead of the video?
Often the TV is processing the picture, which delays video while sound goes straight out. Try a picture mode with less processing, such as Game mode, or add audio delay on the soundbar.
Why does only one IPTV channel have bad lip sync?
The offset is in that channel’s source stream. Restart the channel, try another quality version, and report it to your provider so they can fix it at the source.
Where is AV Sync on Fire TV?
On many Fire TV models it is under Settings, Display & Sounds, Audio, AV Sync Tuning. It uses an on-screen test to help you line up sound and picture.
Can I fix audio sync in VLC?
Yes. On a computer, the J and K keys shift audio in 50 ms steps, and the Track Synchronization window lets you enter an exact delay.
Does Bluetooth cause IPTV audio delay?
Bluetooth audio adds some latency on most devices. Use your streaming device’s AV sync option for Bluetooth or switch to wired or HDMI audio if the delay is noticeable.
