What is IPTV Smarters Pro? It is a free video player app for watching IPTV: you sign in with a login from an IPTV service, and the app organizes that service’s live channels, movies, series and TV guide into an easy dashboard. It does not include any channels of its own. Think of it as the remote-friendly screen, while your provider supplies everything you actually watch.
This page explains the app in plain English: who makes it, what it does, which devices it runs on and, just as important, what it does not do. If you already know you want it, jump to our IPTV Smarters Pro download guide.
Who makes IPTV Smarters Pro
IPTV Smarters Pro is developed by WHMCS Smarters, a software company that builds tools for IPTV businesses, including player apps, custom-branded apps and billing integrations. The consumer app is free, and the developer makes clear in its store listings that it is only a player.
Its Samsung app store listing calls it “just a Video Player without Streams”, says it does not supply or include any media or content, and states it has no affiliation with any third-party provider. That is the single most useful fact to remember about the app.
IPTV Smarters, Smarters Pro and Smarter IPTV Player: same thing?
People use several names, and they do not always mean the same app:
| Name you see | What it usually refers to |
|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters Pro | The main player app from WHMCS Smarters for Android, Fire TV and some smart TVs |
| IPTV Smarters | An older or shorter name for the same family of apps |
| Smarters Player Lite | The official WHMCS Smarters app in Apple’s App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV |
| Smarter IPTV player, Smart IPTV and similar | Often unrelated apps from other publishers with similar names |
Because the name is so well known, lookalike apps are common. Before installing or paying, check that the developer is listed as WHMCS Smarters.
Main features
Feature lists vary by platform and version, but the official listings describe these core functions:
- Xtream Codes login: enter a server URL, username and password from your provider. Our Xtream Codes explainer covers each field.
- M3U playlist support: load a single playlist link instead, if your provider sends one.
- Live TV, movies and series: separate sections with categories, posters, descriptions and ratings when the provider supplies them.
- EPG (TV guide): shows what is on now and next, using guide data from your provider.
- Catch-up: replay past programs, but only on channels where the provider stores archives.
- Multi-user profiles: save more than one login and switch between them.
- Parental controls and an account screen showing your subscription status and expiry date.
- Multi-screen: some versions, notably on Android, have offered a view with more than one stream on screen; check your version, and remember each stream uses a connection.
Supported devices
At the time of writing, here is where the official apps are available:

What IPTV Smarters Pro does NOT do
Most confusion about the app comes from expecting it to do things it was never designed for:
- It does not include channels. Open it without a login and there is nothing to watch.
- It does not sell subscriptions. Websites offering an “IPTV Smarters subscription” are independent IPTV sellers, not the developer.
- It cannot fix a weak service. Buffering, missing channels and empty guides almost always come from the provider or your network.
- It does not create catch-up. If the provider has no archives, the catch-up section stays empty.
- It does not make content legal. IPTV technology is legal, but services that rebroadcast channels without licenses are not. Check what your provider offers and the law where you live.
- It is not a cable-style DVR. Recording support varies by version and is not a headline feature on every platform. If you need recording or a grid guide, compare it with other players.
How it works in three steps
- Install the official app for your device.
- Get a login from an IPTV provider: an Xtream Codes login or an M3U link.
- Open the app, choose the login type, enter your details, and wait while it loads channels, movies, series and the guide.
If you need a service, our own plan, IPTV Journal, is 12 months for $89 and includes a login that works in Smarters. See the plan here.
Is IPTV Smarters Pro the right player for you?
Smarters suits people who want a simple dashboard and the same app family on Android, Fire TV, Samsung TVs and Apple devices. Its menu layout is especially comfortable on phones and tablets. If you mostly flick between live channels on a TV with a remote, a grid-based player may suit you better; compare it with TiviMate before you commit.
FAQ
Is IPTV Smarters Pro free?
Yes. The app is free on most platforms. On Apple devices, Smarters Player Lite is free with an optional premium unlock listed at $1.99 at the time of writing.
Does IPTV Smarters Pro have channels?
No. It is a player only and ships with no content. Channels come from the IPTV service whose login you add.
Is IPTV Smarters Pro legal?
The app itself is a legal media player. Whether what you watch is legal depends on whether your provider holds the rights to its channels, so check before you subscribe.
Is IPTV Smarters Pro in the Google Play Store?
At the time of writing, the official IPTV Smarters Pro app was not listed in Google Play, so Android users install it from the developer’s website. Apps with similar names in Google Play are often from other publishers.
What is the difference between IPTV Smarters and Smarters Player Lite?
Both come from WHMCS Smarters. Smarters Player Lite is the version published in Apple’s App Store for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, while IPTV Smarters Pro is the main app for Android, Fire TV and some smart TVs.
