TiviMate on Firestick: Install, Activate and Update

Yes, you can run TiviMate on Firestick, but only on Fire TV models that use Amazon’s Android-based Fire OS, and only by installing it from the official tivimate.com download link with the Downloader app. TiviMate is not in the Amazon Appstore, and the newest sticks running Vega OS cannot install it at all. This guide covers which models work, the install, activating Premium, updating, and a few Fire TV-specific settings.

If you use an Android TV or Google TV device instead, the general TiviMate setup guide is the better starting point. This page focuses on what is different on Fire TV.

Which Fire TV models can run TiviMate?

Amazon now ships two operating systems on Fire TV. Fire OS is based on Android and allows apps from outside the Appstore. Vega OS is Amazon’s newer Linux-based system; it does not run Android apps and does not allow sideloading. Amazon’s developer site has said that starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, all future Fire TV Sticks will run Vega.

To check yours, go to Settings > My Fire TV > About and note the exact model name. A quick test: search the Appstore for Downloader by AFTVnews. If it does not appear, you are almost certainly on Vega OS. Our Firestick model check guide goes deeper on telling them apart.

On a Vega stick, do not install lookalike apps using the TiviMate name from the Appstore; they are not from the developer. The realistic options are an Appstore-listed player or a Fire OS or Google TV device.

How to install TiviMate on Firestick

The install has three parts: allow Downloader to install apps, fetch the APK from the official site, then lock things back down.

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, search the Appstore for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it. Avoid paid lookalikes.
  2. Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About and press Select on your device name seven times until it says you are a developer.
  3. Go back to My Fire TV > Developer Options > Install unknown apps and turn Downloader on. Older software shows a single “Apps from Unknown Sources” switch instead.
  4. Open Downloader, type tivimate.com into its address bar and open the site.
  5. Use the download link published on the official site for Android TV and Fire OS devices, then choose Install when prompted.
  6. After it installs, delete the APK file when Downloader offers, to save space.
  7. Return to Install unknown apps and switch Downloader off again.

Skip short numeric Downloader codes shared in videos and comments. Some point to the real file, others to modified builds, and you cannot tell which from the code. Typing the official site yourself takes ten more seconds and removes the guesswork.

Once TiviMate opens, add your Xtream Codes login or M3U URL. If you are unsure which details to enter, our Xtream Codes login explainer breaks down the server, username and password fields.

Activating TiviMate Premium on Firestick

There is no Google Play on Fire TV, so you cannot buy Premium on the stick itself. That is exactly what the TiviMate Companion app is for: its listing says it unlocks Premium on devices without Google Play.

  1. On an Android phone or tablet, install TiviMate Companion by Armobsoft FZE from Google Play.
  2. Create a TiviMate account and buy Premium in the app. Check the current price and plan there.
  3. On the Firestick, open TiviMate and go to Settings, then the Premium or Unlock Premium entry.
  4. Sign in with the same account, name the device (for example “Bedroom Fire Stick”) and confirm.

If you replace the stick later, remove the old one from the devices list in Companion so it stops counting toward your limit. Our TiviMate Premium guide covers pricing, device limits and moving your license in detail.

How to update TiviMate on Firestick

Because TiviMate is sideloaded, the Amazon Appstore will never update it. You have two routes:

  • In-app prompt: when a new version is available, TiviMate may show an update notice. Follow it, and if Fire TV asks, allow the install.
  • Manual update: open Downloader, go to tivimate.com again, download the latest file from the official link and install it over the existing app. Choosing Install, not Uninstall first, keeps your playlists and settings.

Before any update, make a backup from TiviMate’s settings to a USB drive or cloud folder. If the new version misbehaves, you can reinstall and restore in minutes. If Fire TV says the app is not installed, an incompatible build is usually the cause; uninstall, reinstall from the official link, then restore your backup and sign in to Premium again.

Best TiviMate settings for Fire TV hardware

These are Fire TV-specific. For general tweaks like hiding groups and EPG timing, see our TiviMate tips and tricks.

  • Turn on frame-rate matching on the stick. TiviMate’s auto frame rate only works if Fire TV allows it. On 4K models, look for Match Original Frame Rate under Settings > Display & Sounds > Display.
  • Watch your storage. Fire TV Sticks have little free space. Clear cached data from apps you do not use and avoid recording to internal storage.
  • Keep hardware decoding. Fire TV chips are built for hardware decoding; software decoding works the processor much harder and is only a fix for the odd problem channel.
  • Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or an Ethernet adapter. The stick’s antenna is small, and the network is the biggest factor in buffering.
  • Set TiviMate as your launch app manually. Fire OS keeps its own home screen, so pin TiviMate to the first row for one-press access.

If TiviMate starts to stutter or freeze only on the stick, the cause is usually memory or heat rather than the app. Restarting the Fire TV weekly from Settings > My Fire TV > Restart clears it for most people.

Is a Firestick the right box for TiviMate?

A Fire TV Stick 4K Max or 4K Plus runs TiviMate well for everyday live TV. If you plan heavy multi-view, recording to a USB drive or a very large playlist, a Google TV device with Google Play is simpler because TiviMate installs and updates from the store. Whatever box you use, the service matters more than the hardware. Our plan, IPTV Journal, is a single 12-month option for $89 with an Xtream Codes login that works in TiviMate on Fire OS; see the plan details here. IPTV technology is legal, but only use services that hold the rights to their channels.

FAQ

Can you get TiviMate on any Firestick?

No. It runs on Fire TV devices with Fire OS, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, 4K Plus and Fire TV Cube. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the 2026 Fire TV Stick HD run Vega OS, which cannot install it.

Is TiviMate in the Amazon Appstore?

No. TiviMate is not distributed through the Amazon Appstore, so apps there using its name are not from the developer. Install it with Downloader using the link on tivimate.com.

How do I get TiviMate Premium on a Firestick?

Buy Premium in the TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone or tablet, then sign in with the same account from TiviMate’s settings on the Firestick. The stick does not need Google Play.

How do I update TiviMate on Firestick?

Accept the in-app update prompt if one appears, or download the latest version from the official link with Downloader and install it over the current app. Make a backup first so you can restore your setup if anything goes wrong.

Why won’t TiviMate install on my Fire TV?

The most common reasons are a Vega OS model, Downloader not allowed under Install unknown apps, or not enough free storage. Check your model under Settings > My Fire TV > About and free up space before trying again.
