How to Watch the Champions League in the UK This Season

To watch the Champions League in the UK in 2026-27 you need TNT Sports, which shows most matches including the knockout rounds and the final, and Amazon Prime Video, which has 17 games with first pick of the Tuesday night fixtures. Free highlights are on BBC iPlayer and TNT Sports’ YouTube channel.

Below we break down who shows what, how much each service costs at the time of writing, and how to get the most from them.

The league phase runs through the autumn and into January, before the knockout rounds start in February. The current UK deals cover the 2024-25 to 2026-27 seasons, so expect announcements about the next rights cycle before 2027-28 begins.

How the format affects your viewing

The Champions League now uses a single league phase of 36 clubs, with each team playing eight matches against different opponents. The top eight go straight into the round of 16, while clubs finishing ninth to 24th meet in a two-legged knockout play-off in February. That means far more meaningful games in the autumn, and more nights with several matches at once.

For viewers, the practical point is that the final rounds of the league phase in January are often played simultaneously, so you may want TNT Sports’ multi-screen or alternate-channel options to follow your club’s rivals at the same time. In the knockout rounds, TNT Sports shows most ties, Amazon’s Tuesday pick continues up to the semi-finals, and only TNT Sports has the final.

How to get TNT Sports

TNT Sports is the main home of the competition, so it is the subscription most fans need. Since 26 March 2026 it has been sold through HBO Max in the UK, replacing discovery+.

  • HBO Max: around £30.99 a month, or about £25.99 a month on a 12-month saver, at the time of writing.
  • BT and EE: TNT Sports can be added to your TV or broadband bill, and existing customers have often had lower prices.
  • Sky and Virgin Media: TNT Sports is available as an add-on to their TV packages.

TNT Sports also covers 52 Premier League games, so if you follow English football as well, the subscription works harder for you.

How to get the Amazon Prime Video games

Amazon’s 17 matches come with a standard Prime membership, at around £8.99 a month or £95 a year. New members can usually start with a free 30-day trial. Prime’s games are typically the biggest Tuesday 8pm tie each matchweek, which often features a Premier League club.

You can watch through the Prime Video app on smart TVs, Fire TV and other streaming sticks, games consoles, phones and the web. If you are choosing a device, our round-up of the best streaming devices for 2026 compares the main options.

Tips for a better Champions League night

  1. Check the schedule weekly. Amazon picks its Tuesday game in advance, so a club’s fixture can be on Prime one week and TNT the next.
  2. Use TNT’s multi-match options. On busy nights, TNT Sports shows several games at once across its channels and app.
  3. Test your connection early. A wired connection or strong Wi-Fi reduces buffering at 8pm, when demand peaks. Our explainer on IPTV buffering has more tips.
  4. Look for 4K. Some services offer selected games in higher quality; our page on 4K streaming requirements explains the bandwidth you need.

A word on unofficial streams

Unlicensed Champions League streams and cheap “all sports” playlists are illegal in the UK and often loaded with malware. IPTV itself is legal; what matters is whether the provider has the rights. If you want a general live-TV service alongside your official apps, our IPTV Journal plan is 12 months for $89, but TNT Sports and Prime Video remain the licensed UK homes of the Champions League.

Which option should you choose?

  • Every match, including the final: TNT Sports plus Amazon Prime.
  • Big Tuesday games on a budget: Prime Video alone, plus BBC highlights.
  • Knockout rounds only: subscribe to TNT Sports from February on a monthly plan and cancel after the final.
