The best live TV streaming in Canada depends on what you watch live. There is no single Canadian service that bundles every network the way YouTube TV does in the US, so most households combine one paid live service (such as Fubo Canada, STACKTV or the Bell Fibe TV app) with free network apps like CBC Gem and a sports add-on if they follow hockey or football.
This guide compares the live options that are actually licensed in Canada, what each one costs at the time of writing (in CAD), and which combination fits which kind of viewer.
Why Canada works differently from the US
In the US, “virtual cable” services carry dozens of national networks in one app. Canadian channel rights are split among a few large media owners: Bell Media (CTV, TSN, Crave), Rogers (Sportsnet, Citytv), Corus (Global and a group of specialty channels) and CBC/Radio-Canada. Each of them sells its channels through its own apps or through cable and fibre providers.
The practical result is that live TV in Canada comes in pieces. You pick the pieces that match your viewing instead of buying one giant package.
The main live TV streaming options in Canada
Prices below are approximate, in Canadian dollars, and change often. Always confirm on the provider’s own site before you sign up.
| Service | What you get live | Approx. price (CAD) | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fubo Canada | Premier League, Fubo sports channels, some news and lifestyle channels | Around $31/month for the main plan | Soccer fans |
| STACKTV | A bundle of Corus specialty channels such as Food Network, HGTV and History | Around $12.99/month via Prime Video Channels | Lifestyle and reality TV |
| Bell Fibe TV app | Full cable-style packages, Starter from around $25/month regular price | Requires Bell Internet | Bell Internet customers |
| Rogers Xfinity TV | Cable-style packages with cloud PVR | Check rogers.com | Rogers Internet customers |
| CBC Gem | Live CBC streams plus on-demand | Free with ads; Premium removes ads | Everyone |
| Sportsnet+ / TSN+ | Live NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB and more depending on rights | Around $35 and $30/month | Sports fans |
Fubo Canada
Fubo Canada is the closest thing to a sports-first streaming service in the country. It holds the Premier League rights in Canada through the 2027-28 season, with selected matches in 4K. It does not carry several big US cable networks, so it is not a full cable replacement on its own.
STACKTV
STACKTV bundles Corus specialty channels and is sold as an add-on through Amazon Prime Video Channels, at around $12.99 a month at the time of writing. It suits viewers who mostly want lifestyle, home and factual channels live.
Bell Fibe TV app and Rogers Xfinity TV
If you want the full cable lineup (CTV, Global, Citytv, TSN, Sportsnet and specialty channels) streamed rather than delivered by a set-top box, the Bell Fibe TV app is the simplest route, but Bell states that Bell Internet is required. Rogers Xfinity TV (formerly Ignite TV) works the same way for Rogers Internet customers. We compare the two in detail in a separate guide.
Free live TV you should not overlook
Before paying for anything, add the free layer. CBC Gem streams CBC live and has a large on-demand library for free with ads. Free ad-supported streaming channels (FAST) like Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus and The Roku Channel also carry live-style channels in Canada.
An antenna is the other free option. In most cities you can pick up CBC, CTV, Global and Citytv over the air in HD at no monthly cost, and near the US border you may also receive American networks. Our guide to free live TV streaming apps lists more options.
Sports: the part that drives the bill
For most Canadians, sports is why the cable bill was high in the first place. The rights are split:
- Sportsnet+ carries Rogers’ Sportsnet channels, including a large share of NHL games. It rose to around $34.99 a month in September 2026.
- TSN+ carries TSN’s channels, including much of the CFL and NFL coverage in Canada, at around $29.99 a month.
- DAZN Canada carries NFL Game Pass and other sports, with pricing that varies by tier.
- Fubo Canada covers the Premier League.
Stacking all of these can cost more than a basic cable package with sports. Do the maths before you cancel cable.
Matching a setup to your household
- Mostly news and Canadian shows: antenna plus CBC Gem and the free network apps. Cost: close to zero.
- Lifestyle and reality TV fans: free layer plus STACKTV.
- Hockey households: free layer plus Sportsnet+ (and TSN+ if your team’s regional games are on TSN).
- Soccer fans: free layer plus Fubo Canada.
- “I want everything in one place”: the Bell Fibe TV app or Rogers Xfinity TV, if you already use that company’s internet.
What about IPTV services?
IPTV is just the delivery method, and Fibe TV itself is an IPTV service. What matters is whether the provider holds the rights to the channels it sells. Read our guide to IPTV legality in Canada before you pick any third-party subscription, and check the rules where you live.
If you want one app with a broad channel lineup, our own plan is 12 months for $89 (US dollars) with live channels, sports, movies and series, and you can see what is included on the IPTV Journal pricing section. Our guide to choosing an IPTV subscription in Canada explains what to check with any provider.
Which option should you choose?
Start free, then add only what you miss. Set up an antenna and CBC Gem first, run them for two weeks, and note the channels and games you actually wanted but could not get. That list tells you whether you need one sports app, STACKTV, Fubo Canada or a full Fibe or Rogers package.
FAQ
Is there a YouTube TV equivalent in Canada?
No. YouTube TV is not available in Canada, and no Canadian service carries every national network in one app. The closest full-lineup options are the Bell Fibe TV app and Rogers Xfinity TV, which both require that company’s internet service.
What is the cheapest way to get live TV in Canada?
An antenna plus free apps such as CBC Gem, Pluto TV and Samsung TV Plus costs nothing per month. If you need a paid package, Bell’s Starter package lists a regular price of around $25 a month, though it requires Bell Internet.
Can I stream CTV and Global live without cable?
CTV and Global are both free over the air in most major markets, so an antenna is the easiest way to watch them live. Streaming them live through apps may require a TV provider login, so check each app’s sign-in rules.
Which service is best for hockey in Canada?
Sportsnet+ carries a large share of NHL games in Canada, and TSN+ carries some regional games. Which one you need depends on your team, so check your team’s broadcast schedule before subscribing.
Does Fubo Canada include CBC, CTV or Global?
Fubo Canada focuses on sports and does not replace the main Canadian networks. Pair it with an antenna or the free network apps to cover local channels.
