IBO Player is a media player app for smart TVs, Android devices and Apple devices that plays an IPTV subscription you already have, using a playlist you upload on the developer’s website. It includes no channels. You install it, note the Device ID (shown in MAC address format) and Device Key on the screen, add your M3U link or Xtream Codes login on the official site, then restart the app. After a free trial, you pay a small activation fee per device.
This guide covers what the app is, how activation and pricing work, a step-by-step setup, fixes for common problems, and the privacy trade-off most guides skip. It also explains the confusing number of apps that share the IBO name, so you install the right one.
One IPTV login for every device you own
Firestick, Smart TV, Android, Apple TV, phone and PC. Set up in minutes. Plans from $40.
Quick answer: the setup in six steps
- Install the app from your TV’s app store, Google Play or the Apple App Store.
- Open it and write down the Device ID / MAC address and Device Key.
- On a phone or computer, go to the official website of the app you installed and log in with those two codes.
- Add a playlist: paste your M3U link (or your Xtream Codes server, username and password) and, if you have one, an XMLTV EPG link.
- Restart the app on the TV. Your channels and guide load from the playlist.
- Before the trial ends, pay the activation fee on the official site or through the app store if you want to keep using it.
What is IBO Player?
IBO Player is a player, not a TV service. The App Store listings for the IBO apps say plainly that the app includes no channels or lists, that you must get your account details from your own TV provider, and that the developer is not affiliated with any provider. Think of it like a DVD player: it plays what you put in, and the content is your responsibility.
Its main selling point is that it runs directly on Samsung and LG smart TVs, where Android-only apps like TiviMate cannot be installed. Instead of typing a long URL with a TV remote, you paste your playlist into a web page on your phone or computer, and the app picks it up. If you are not sure what an M3U link or Xtream Codes login is, read our M3U IPTV explainer first.
IBO Player vs IBO Player Pro, and the look-alikes
Several apps use the IBO name, and they are not always from the same company. At the time of writing, the Apple App Store alone lists at least three:
| App name on Apple | Seller listed | Website in listing | Activation (in-app) |
|---|---|---|---|
| IBO PLAYER | ibrahim akoum | iboiptv.com | Around £9.99 (UK store) |
| Ibo Player Pro | ibrahim akoum | iboiptv.com | Around $5.99 (US store), 7-day free trial |
| ibo Pro Player | IRBOETECH CO., LIMITED | iboproapp.com | Around $9.99 (US store) |
On TVs and Android, provider setup guides usually point IBO Player users to iboplayer.com and IBO Player Pro users to iboproapp.com. The rule that matters: upload your playlist only on the website named in the store listing of the exact app you installed. A Device Key from one IBO app will not work on another IBO website.
Search results are also full of copycat pages with “IBO” in the address that offer APK downloads or “lifetime activation” for sale. Avoid them. Install only from your TV’s built-in app store, Google Play, the Apple App Store, or a download link on the developer’s own site, and never type your Device Key into a site you reached from an ad or a reseller.
Supported devices
Device support differs between the IBO apps and changes over time, so treat this table as a starting point and check your store before you rely on it.
| Device | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung smart TV (Tizen) | Commonly listed in the Samsung app store | Search the TV’s Apps section for the exact name |
| LG smart TV (webOS) | Commonly listed in the LG Content Store | Older webOS models may not show it |
| Android TV / Google TV / Android boxes | Supported | Use Google Play or the developer’s own site |
| Amazon Fire TV | Fire OS models only, usually by sideloading | Vega OS sticks do not allow sideloading |
| iPhone, iPad, Apple TV | Yes, via the App Store | Several IBO-branded apps; check the seller |
| Mac | Apple silicon Macs via the App Store | Listings say “not verified for macOS” |
| Roku | Not available | Use a different streaming device |

IBO Player activation and price
Activation works per device. Each TV or phone gets its own Device ID and Device Key, and each one needs its own activation once the trial ends. Provider help pages and the Apple listings describe a 7-day free trial for new users, after which you pay to keep the app working.
| Item | What to expect | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | 7 days on new devices | Some listings do not mention a trial; check in the app |
| IBO Player price | Around $6 to $10 per device at the time of writing | Depends on which IBO app, store and region |
| Payment type | Usually a one-time activation per device | Some IBO apps offer yearly options; read the checkout page |
| Where to pay | Official website or in-app purchase | Never through a reseller selling “activation codes” |
| IPTV subscription | Not included | You need a separate service with an M3U link or Xtream Codes login |
Because the IBO Player Pro and IBO Player prices vary by app and region, confirm the exact amount on the official checkout page before paying. If a site asks for much more, or only takes gift cards or crypto, you are probably on a copycat site.
How to install IPTV on IBO Player, step by step
This is the full process for how to install IPTV on IBO Player. It takes about 10 minutes if you have your login details ready.
1. Install the app
On a Samsung or LG TV, open the app store from the home screen, search for the exact app name and install it. On Android TV or Google TV, use Google Play. On Apple TV, iPhone or iPad, use the App Store and check that the seller matches the app your provider recommends.
2. Note the IBO Player MAC address and Device Key
Open the app. The first screen shows a Device ID in MAC address format (six pairs of letters and numbers such as 1a:2b:3c:4d:5e:6f) and a Device Key. Write both down or take a photo. The IBO Player MAC address here is an app ID, not your router’s or TV’s network MAC, so do not swap it for the one in your TV’s network settings.
3. Add your playlist on the official website
- On a phone or computer, go to the official IBO website for your app and open the device login or “manage playlists” page.
- Enter the Device ID and Device Key exactly as shown.
- Click Add playlist and give it a name.
- For an M3U link: paste the full URL your provider sent you.
- For Xtream Codes: choose the Xtream option if offered, then enter the server URL, username and password.
- If your provider gave you an XMLTV EPG link, paste it in the EPG field. Save.
4. Restart the app
Close the app completely and open it again, or use the reload option in the app. Pick your playlist from the list. Live TV, movies and series usually appear as separate sections.

No spam. Unsubscribe any time.
5. Load the EPG
Open the live TV section and give the guide a few minutes to fill on first load. If it stays empty, check that the EPG link was saved and that your provider includes guide data. Most Xtream Codes logins pull the guide automatically.
Settings tips worth changing
- Pick the right player engine. If channels stutter or show a black screen, try switching the video player option in settings.
- Set the time zone and time format so the guide lines up with real airtimes.
- Use parental controls to lock adult or unwanted categories with a PIN.
- Hide categories you never watch to make the channel list faster to scroll.
- Use Ethernet for 4K channels on the TV when you can; it is usually steadier than Wi-Fi.
IBO Player troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Playlist not loading | Typo in the M3U URL or login, or the service is down | Re-paste the link, check username and password, test the login in another player |
| “Expired” or trial ended | 7-day trial is over | Pay the activation fee on the official site for that Device ID |
| Wrong MAC address / device not found | Codes typed wrong, or you used a different IBO app’s website | Copy the Device ID and Key again and use the site named in your app’s store listing |
| No EPG / empty guide | No EPG link, or guide data not downloaded yet | Add the XMLTV link, wait a few minutes, then refresh the guide in settings |
| Channels buffer | Slow or busy connection, or overloaded server | Use Ethernet, restart the router, try another channel to see if it is one source |
| Playlist vanished after reinstall | New install created a new Device ID | Add the playlist again under the new ID |
Privacy note: uploading playlists to a third-party site
The IBO setup model has a trade-off. Your M3U link usually contains your IPTV username and password inside the URL, and you are pasting it into a website run by the app developer, not by your IPTV provider. That site stores it so the app can fetch it.
- Only use the official site listed in the app store, typed in directly.
- Set a playlist PIN or password if the site offers one, so no one with your Device ID can view it.
- If you stop using the app, delete the playlist from the website.
- If your login leaks, ask your provider to reset the password.
Apps that let you type the login directly into the device, like TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro, avoid this step. Our best IPTV player guide compares them.
Need an IPTV subscription to play?
The app needs a service that gives you an M3U link or Xtream Codes login. IPTV Journal sells its own plan, so here is what it includes: 12 months for $89 (about $7.40 a month), with an Xtream Codes login and M3U link that work in IBO Player, TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro and other players, plus live channels, movies and series, HD and 4K where available, 24/7 support and card payment. There is a 7-day money-back guarantee. Honest limits: you need a player app, there is no native Roku app, and there is no cloud DVR. See the IPTV Journal plan for details.
Whatever service you use, make sure it holds the rights to what it streams. IPTV technology is legal; services that rebroadcast channels without a license are not.
Alternatives worth considering
| App | Runs on | Why pick it |
|---|---|---|
| TiviMate | Android TV, Google TV, Fire OS | Cable-style guide, recording and multiview with Premium |
| IPTV Smarters Pro / Smarters Player Lite | Android, Fire OS, Apple devices | Login typed on the device; separate movie and series sections |
| IPTVX | iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac | Polished Apple-only player |
| Native Samsung or LG players | Samsung and LG TVs | Other apps in the TV store use a similar device ID model |

FAQ
Is IBO Player free?
The app is free to download and usually comes with a 7-day free trial. After that you pay an activation fee per device, around $6 to $10 at the time of writing depending on the IBO app and store. The IPTV subscription itself is separate.
Does IBO Player come with channels?
No. It is only a media player. You need your own IPTV subscription that gives you an M3U link or Xtream Codes login, and you are responsible for what you load into it.
What is the IBO Player MAC address?
It is the Device ID the app shows on its first screen, written in MAC address format. It identifies your install on the IBO website, together with the Device Key. It is not the same as your TV’s network MAC address.
Is IBO Player Pro the same as IBO Player?
They are related names but separate apps, and different IBO-branded apps are sold by different companies. Each uses its own website for playlists and activation, so use the site listed in the store page of the app you installed.
Do I need to activate it on every TV?
Yes, in most cases. Activation is tied to one Device ID, so a second TV or a phone gets its own ID and needs its own activation after the trial.
Can I use IBO Player on Firestick?
Only on Fire TV models running Fire OS, and usually by sideloading from the developer’s official site. Newer Vega OS Fire TV sticks do not allow sideloading, so pick an Android TV device or a smart TV app instead.
