The cheapest way to watch the Premier League in the UK in 2026-27 is a NOW Football membership on a Saver term (around £23.99 a month at the time of writing) for the Sky Sports matches, plus TNT Sports through HBO Max on a 12-month saver (around £25.99 a month) only if you also want TNT’s games. If you just want to see every goal, BBC Match of the Day costs nothing beyond your £180 TV licence.
This guide works through each legal option by price, so you can decide how much live football is actually worth to you this season.
Who shows the Premier League in the UK in 2026-27?
The 2026-27 season runs from Friday 21 August 2026 to Sunday 30 May 2027. It is the second year of the current four-year UK rights deals, and there are only two live broadcasters:
| Broadcaster | Live matches | Typical slots |
|---|---|---|
| Sky Sports | At least 215 | Sunday afternoons, Monday Night Football, Friday nights, most midweek rounds |
| TNT Sports | 52 | Saturday 12:30 kick-off, plus selected Saturday evening and Sunday games |
| BBC (highlights) | All 380 matches | Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2 |
Amazon Prime Video no longer shows any Premier League games, so a Prime subscription will not help here. Saturday 3pm kick-offs are not shown live anywhere in the UK.
The real monthly cost of each option
Prices below were checked on the official NOW, HBO Max and government pages at the time of writing. They change often, so confirm the current figure before you sign up.
| Option | What you get | Approx. cost |
|---|---|---|
| BBC Match of the Day | Highlights of every game | £180 a year (TV licence) |
| NOW Football (Saver) | Sky Sports Premier League and Football channels plus football Sky Sports+ streams | £23.99 a month, minimum term |
| NOW Football (Flexible) | Same channels, cancel any time | £30.99 a month |
| NOW Day Membership | All Sky Sports for 24 hours | £14.99 one-off |
| TNT Sports via HBO Max (saver) | All TNT Sports channels | £25.99 a month, 12-month term |
| TNT Sports via HBO Max (monthly) | Same, no long commitment | £30.99 a month |
Combining the two cheapest long-term plans comes to roughly £50 a month for every televised Premier League game. Going flexible on both pushes that to about £62 a month.
Five ways to pay less
- Pick the broadcaster that shows your club most. Sky has more than four times as many games as TNT, so most fans get the bulk of their team’s live matches from NOW Football alone.
- Use the new NOW Football tier. NOW now splits Sky Sports into Football (£30.99 flexible) and Multi-Sport memberships, so you no longer pay for cricket, golf and F1 if you only want football.
- Buy day passes for big games only. If you only want a handful of matches, a £14.99 NOW Day Membership can work out cheaper than a month.
- Pause in quiet months. Flexible plans can be cancelled and restarted. International breaks and the gap between May and August are obvious times to stop paying.
- Check your broadband or mobile provider. BT, EE and Sky customers can add TNT Sports through their provider, and existing BT/EE customers have often been offered it at a lower rate. Compare that with the HBO Max price before switching.
What you get for free
If you can live without live games, the free route is genuinely good:
- Match of the Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday nights, and Match of the Day 2 on Sundays. You need a valid TV licence to watch BBC iPlayer.
- Live radio commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT, which hold the UK live audio rights.
- Official club and broadcaster clips on YouTube and social media after full time.
Free streams that show every game live are not legal in the UK, whatever they claim. The Premier League and FACT actively pursue illegal streaming services, and those sites are a common source of malware and card fraud. Our guide to subscribing to IPTV safely explains the warning signs.
Getting the best picture for your money
Paying for a service only to watch a blurry, buffering picture is poor value. A wired or strong Wi-Fi connection and a decent streaming stick make more difference than most people expect. Our round-up of the best streaming devices for 2026 covers sticks that run the NOW, HBO Max and BBC iPlayer apps, and our explainer on why streams buffer helps if Saturday lunchtime keeps freezing.
Remember that NOW streams in HD on its standard tiers. If 4K football matters to you, check the boost options on NOW or a Sky TV package, as these cost extra.
Where IPTV fits in
IPTV is simply TV delivered over the internet, which is how NOW and HBO Max work too. A general IPTV subscription can be useful for wider live TV, but it does not replace the official Sky and TNT apps for Premier League rights in the UK. If you want a broad package of international channels alongside your football apps, our IPTV Journal plan is 12 months for $89 and runs on most devices. Always check that any service you use holds the rights for your country.

Which option should you choose?
- Casual fan: TV licence and Match of the Day, plus the odd NOW Day Membership for a derby.
- Follow one club closely: NOW Football on a Saver term covers most of their televised games.
- Want every live game: NOW Football Saver plus TNT Sports on a 12-month saver, at around £50 a month combined.
FAQ
What is the cheapest legal way to watch live Premier League games in the UK?
At the time of writing, a NOW Football membership on a Saver term at around £23.99 a month is the lowest-priced way to watch Sky’s 215 live games. A NOW Day Membership at £14.99 is cheaper if you only want one or two matches. Prices change, so check NOW’s website before signing up.

No. Amazon Prime Video stopped showing Premier League matches after December 2024. In 2026-27, live UK coverage is split between Sky Sports and TNT Sports only.
How much does it cost to watch every televised Premier League game?
With NOW Football on a Saver term and TNT Sports on a 12-month saver through HBO Max, you pay roughly £50 a month. On flexible, cancel-any-time plans it is closer to £62 a month. A Sky TV package with both can cost more, depending on the deal.
Is Match of the Day free?
Match of the Day has no extra fee, but you need a valid TV licence to watch it live on TV or on BBC iPlayer. The licence costs £180 a year from 1 April 2026.
Why can I not watch Saturday 3pm games live?
Saturday 3pm kick-offs are covered by a long-standing broadcasting blackout in England, so no UK broadcaster shows them live. You can see the goals on Match of the Day that evening.
