The simplest way to watch NFL RedZone without cable is NFL+ Premium, the league’s own app, which included RedZone for around $14.99 a month or $99.99 a season at the time of writing. If you already pay for a live TV streaming service, you can also add RedZone through a sports add-on on YouTube TV, Sling, DirecTV, Fubo or Hulu + Live TV. This guide compares those routes so you pick the one that fits the way you watch.
RedZone runs on Sunday afternoons during the regular season, from 1 p.m. ET until the late games finish. It jumps between every live Sunday afternoon game whenever a team gets inside the 20-yard line, so it suits fantasy players and fans who follow the whole league rather than one team.
What NFL RedZone is (and what it is not)
RedZone is a whip-around show, not a full game feed. You see touchdowns and big moments from every Sunday afternoon game, with no commercials, but you do not get to choose one game and stay on it from start to finish.
That is the most common source of confusion. People often mix RedZone up with three other products:
- NFL Sunday Ticket shows full out-of-market Sunday afternoon games on YouTube. It is far more expensive and covers a different need.
- NFL Network is a 24/7 channel with a handful of live games each season. It does not include RedZone.
- Sunday Night, Monday Night and Thursday Night Football are separate primetime windows. RedZone does not show them.
If you want to know where each individual game airs this season, our NFL 2026 where-to-watch guide breaks it down week by week. This article focuses only on RedZone.
Every legal way to get RedZone without a cable box
Prices below are approximate and were gathered at the time of writing during the 2026 season. Sports add-ons and bundles change often, so check the provider’s own site before you sign up.
| Option | How RedZone is included | Approx. cost |
|---|---|---|
| NFL+ Premium | Included in the plan | About $14.99/mo or $99.99/season |
| ESPN Unlimited + NFL+ Premium bundle | NFL+ Premium is part of the bundle | Around $40 to $42/mo |
| YouTube TV | Sports Plus add-on on top of a plan | Add-on around $10.99/mo |
| Sling | Sports Extra add-on (Blue side) | Add-on around $11/mo |
| DirecTV | MySports Extra add-on, or included in top tiers | Add-on around $14/mo |
| Fubo / Hulu + Live TV | Sports add-on | Add-on around $10 to $11/mo |
Notice the pattern: unless you already have a live TV service for other reasons, paying for a full channel package just to unlock RedZone costs several times more than NFL+ Premium on its own.
Option 1: NFL+ Premium, the cheapest standalone route
NFL+ Premium is sold directly by the league and includes RedZone, full and condensed game replays, and live local and primetime games on phones and tablets. In recent seasons the NFL has allowed RedZone itself to play on TV apps too, including streaming sticks and supported smart TVs.
A few things to know before you buy:
- The season price is usually the better deal if you plan to watch from September to early January. The league has run early-season discounts on the annual plan, so it is worth checking in late summer.
- Live local and primetime games inside NFL+ are limited to mobile devices. RedZone is the part that works on the big screen.
- There is no cloud DVR. If you miss the window, you watch replays later instead.
If you also want the ESPN channels for Monday Night Football, the ESPN Unlimited and NFL+ Premium bundle can save a few dollars compared with buying both separately. Our ESPN streaming service guide explains what ESPN Unlimited includes.
Option 2: Add RedZone to a live TV streaming service
If your household already pays for YouTube TV, Sling, DirecTV, Fubo or Hulu + Live TV, adding RedZone is usually a short trip into the account settings:
- Sign in to your provider’s website rather than the TV app, since add-ons are easier to manage there.
- Open the add-ons or extras section and look for the sports package (names like Sports Plus, Sports Extra or MySports Extra).
- Confirm the package lists NFL RedZone. On Sling, check that it applies to the side of your plan that carries it.
- Restart the app on your TV so the new channel appears in the guide.
- Cancel the add-on after the regular season ends if you only want it for football.
The upside of this route is a real channel in your guide, often with cloud DVR. The downside is cost: the base plan plus the add-on typically lands well above $70 a month.
Which devices work best for RedZone
RedZone moves fast, so a reliable device and connection matter more than they do for a slow-paced drama. The NFL app and the major live TV apps run on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV and most recent smart TVs. If your TV’s built-in apps lag or crash, a modern streaming stick is a cheap fix; see our best streaming device guide for current picks.
Aim for a stable connection of at least 15 to 25 Mbps per stream, use Ethernet where you can, and close other heavy downloads on Sunday afternoons.
Ways to cut the cost
- Buy only for the season. RedZone has no value from February to August, so cancel monthly plans or turn off auto-renew on the annual one.
- Pick one source. Don’t pay for RedZone through NFL+ Premium and a live TV add-on at the same time. Check for duplicates in your accounts.
- Pair it with an antenna. RedZone shows highlights, but your local CBS and FOX games are free over the air. Our cheapest way to watch the NFL guide shows how to build a low-cost setup around that.
- Watch for bundles. ESPN and NFL+ bundles appear and change from season to season, so compare the bundle price with buying each service separately.
Some fans also keep one general live TV subscription for everything else. Our own IPTV Journal plan is 12 months for $89, and whichever service you use, make sure it is licensed for the channels it carries. Unofficial RedZone streams are unlicensed, often unstable on Sundays, and not worth the risk.
Which RedZone option should you choose?
If RedZone is the only football extra you need, NFL+ Premium is the clear pick on price. If you also want Monday Night Football and the ESPN networks, look at the ESPN Unlimited bundle. If you already have a live TV service and like having RedZone in the same guide as your other channels, the sports add-on is the most convenient choice, even if it costs more.
FAQ
Can I watch NFL RedZone for free?
Not legally on a regular basis. RedZone is a paid product, though NFL+ and some live TV services have offered free trials to new customers. Check each provider’s current terms, and remember that trials usually convert to paid plans automatically.
Does NFL+ Premium RedZone work on my TV?
At the time of writing, the NFL allows RedZone in NFL+ Premium on TV apps, including popular streaming devices and many smart TVs. The live local and primetime games in NFL+ remain limited to phones and tablets. Check the NFL+ device list before you subscribe.
Is NFL RedZone the same as NFL Network?
No. NFL Network is a 24/7 channel with news shows and a few live games. RedZone is a separate Sunday afternoon whip-around show, and it needs its own subscription or add-on.
Does RedZone show Sunday Night Football or Monday games?
No. RedZone covers the Sunday afternoon window only. Primetime games air on NBC/Peacock, ESPN/ABC and Prime Video, depending on the night.
When does NFL RedZone stop each season?
RedZone airs during the regular season, ending with the final week in early January. It does not run during the playoffs, so that is a good time to cancel.
