Peacock-exclusive games: what that means
Peacock Monday games are not on NBC. They also air on NBCSN, the NBC Sports cable channel, which is carried by some live TV services. If you do not have NBCSN, Peacock is the only place to see them.
- You cannot watch Monday exclusives with an antenna.
- They are blacked out on NBA League Pass, then available as replays the next morning.
- Cable and live TV subscribers can sometimes watch NBCSN in their package instead of buying Peacock.
Watching NBC games without Peacock
Not every NBC game requires Peacock. Tuesday doubleheaders, Sunday Night Basketball, the opening night tripleheader and All-Star Saturday and Sunday all air on your local NBC station. That gives you three ways to watch them:
- An antenna, free after a one-time purchase, if you get a clear NBC signal. Our guide to the best TV antenna for local channels explains how to check reception.
- A live TV service such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV or Fubo, which carry NBC in most markets.
- Peacock, which streams NBC’s games nationwide.
Only the Monday exclusives and the Rising Stars game truly require Peacock or NBCSN. If your team rarely plays on Monday, you might only subscribe for the months you need.
How Peacock compares with the other NBA streamers
| Service | 2026-27 regular-season games | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| NBC / Peacock | 100 | Monday and Tuesday nights, Sunday nights, All-Star |
| Prime Video | 66 | Fridays, NBA Cup knockouts, Play-In, Eastern Conference Finals |
| ESPN / ABC | 80 | Wednesdays, Christmas Day, NBA Finals |
Peacock carries the most games of the three, and it is the cheapest of the three to add. Read our guide to the NBA on Amazon Prime for the Thursday and Friday package.
Tips for watching the NBA on Peacock
- Pay monthly for short stretches. If you only need Peacock for Monday games in a busy part of your team’s schedule, a monthly plan can cost less than a full year.
- Check NBCSN in your TV package first. Some live TV services include NBCSN, which simulcasts Peacock’s Monday games.
- Look for Spanish coverage. Telemundo carries ten Sunday Night Basketball games in Spanish, plus All-Star.
- Plan for the playoffs. NBC and Peacock carry playoff games in April and May, so keep the plan active through the spring if your team is in the race.
Watching Peacock on your TV
Peacock has apps for Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV, most smart TVs, game consoles and phones. Live NBA games appear in the sports section and on the home screen before tip-off. If your TV lacks a good app, our guide to the best streaming device for a non-smart TV can help.
Some fans look at IPTV subscriptions for wider coverage. Our own plan, IPTV Journal, is $89 for 12 months. IPTV is a legal technology, but only licensed services may carry NBA games, so check what any provider is authorized to show in your area.
