The best IPTV Smarters Pro alternative depends on your device: TiviMate on Android TV, Google TV and Fire OS devices, iMPlayer on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, Televizo on Android phones and tablets, and Kodi or VLC on a computer. All of them accept the same Xtream Codes login or M3U URL you used in Smarters, so switching usually takes a few minutes.
Like Smarters, every app below is a player only and ships with no channels.
Why people look for a Smarters alternative
Smarters is still widely recommended by providers, but a few problems push users to look elsewhere:
- App store availability. The original IPTV Smarters Pro is not in Google Play or the Amazon Appstore, so Android and Fire TV users must install it from the developer’s website.
- Lookalike apps. Many apps with “Smarters” or “Smart IPTV” in the name come from unrelated publishers, which makes it easy to install the wrong one.
- The interface. Smarters uses a dashboard with menus. People who flick between channels a lot often prefer a cable-style guide grid.
If you want to keep using Smarters, our guide to downloading IPTV Smarters Pro safely shows the official sources. Otherwise, here are the alternatives.

1. TiviMate: the best switch for TV boxes
TiviMate is built for remote control use on Android TV and Google TV and is listed in Google Play by Armobsoft FZE. It supports Xtream Codes, M3U and Stalker logins, a fast guide grid, catch-up, favorites and parental controls, with recording and multi-view in the paid Premium version.
It is not in the Amazon Appstore, so Fire OS users sideload it, and it cannot run on the newer Vega OS Fire TV Sticks. Our TiviMate vs IPTV Smarters comparison goes into the differences in detail.
2. iMPlayer: the best switch on Apple devices
iMPlayer from HzApps is in the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple silicon Macs, and it also has Android apps. It reads M3U playlists and Xtream style logins, supports external EPG links, catch-up and timeshift, and offers MultiView on iPad. The App Store listing requires iOS, iPadOS or tvOS 18 or later and showed a premium tier at around $24.99 at the time of writing.
3. Televizo: the best switch on Android phones
Televizo is a Google Play app for phones, tablets and TVs that supports multiple playlists, an electronic program guide and catch-up. The free version has ads, and in-app purchases unlock more. It is a good pick if you watched Smarters on a phone and want something from an official store.
4. Smarters Player Lite: same family, official store
If you liked Smarters but want an App Store install, the developer, WHMCS Smarters, publishes Smarters Player Lite for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. It supports M3U playlists and an integrated EPG, with a premium unlock listed at $1.99 at the time of writing.
5. Kodi with PVR IPTV Simple Client: free and flexible
Kodi is a free, open-source media center. Add the official PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on, paste your M3U URL and XMLTV link, and your channels appear in Kodi’s TV section with a full guide. It takes longer to set up and is better suited to tinkerers and computers than to a family living room. Our Kodi IPTV Simple Client guide covers each step.
6. VLC: the free tester
VLC plays an M3U URL as a network stream on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. It has no guide grid or Xtream login screen, so it is not a full replacement, but it is the fastest way to check whether a problem is caused by your app or by the stream itself.
How to move your login from Smarters
You do not need a new account to switch players.
- In Smarters, open your user list and note the server URL (including the port), username and password. Your provider’s welcome email has the same details.
- Install the new player from its official store.
- Choose the Xtream Codes login option and enter the same three details. If the app only takes M3U, ask your provider for the M3U link.
- Add the EPG link if the guide does not appear automatically.
- Check how many simultaneous connections your plan allows before watching on the old and new app at the same time.

Which alternative should you choose?
Match the app to the screen you watch most. TiviMate for an Android-based TV box, iMPlayer for Apple, Televizo for Android phones, Kodi for a computer you like to customize, and VLC for quick tests.
If you also need a service to load into your new player, our plan, IPTV Journal, costs $89 for 12 months and includes an Xtream Codes login and M3U link that work in all six apps. You can see the plan details here. IPTV technology is legal, but only use services that hold the rights to their channels.
FAQ
What is the best free alternative to IPTV Smarters Pro?
Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client and VLC are completely free. Televizo and the free tiers of TiviMate and iMPlayer also cover basic live TV viewing with a guide.
Will my Smarters login work in another app?
Yes, in most cases. Smarters uses standard Xtream Codes logins and M3U URLs, which TiviMate, iMPlayer, Televizo and others also accept. Kodi and VLC need the M3U version of your login.
Why isn’t IPTV Smarters Pro on Google Play?
The original IPTV Smarters Pro is not currently listed in Google Play or the Amazon Appstore, so Android users install it from the developer’s website. On Apple devices, the developer offers Smarters Player Lite in the App Store.
Is there a Smarters alternative for Samsung or LG TVs?
Most of these players are not in the Samsung or LG app stores. The simplest option is usually a Google TV or Fire OS streaming stick plugged into the TV, then installing TiviMate or another Android player on it.
Do these alternatives include channels?
No. They are all players. You add a playlist or login from a service you subscribe to.
