Is TiviMate legal? Yes, the app itself is legal. TiviMate is a media player published on Google Play by Armobsoft FZE, and its listing states that it is a media player only and does not provide any content. What decides whether your viewing is legal is the playlist or service you load into it, not the player. This guide explains that split, how to judge a service, and why the way you get TiviMate Premium matters too.
This is general information, not legal advice. Laws and enforcement differ between countries and states, so check the rules where you live if you are unsure.
The short answer: legal app, content varies
Think of TiviMate like a DVD player or a web browser. The device is legal to own and use. A disc or a website can be legitimate or pirated, and that is a separate question.
TiviMate opens three kinds of input: M3U playlists, Xtream Codes logins and Stalker portal logins. It then shows the channels in a TV guide grid. It has no channels, no catalog and no streams of its own. Its Google Play listing also says a paid upgrade unlocks app features only and does not include access to any channels or streams.
| Part of the setup | Who provides it | Legal question |
|---|---|---|
| TiviMate app | Armobsoft FZE, via Google Play | A legal player app |
| TiviMate Premium | The developer, via the TiviMate Companion app | Legal when bought officially |
| Playlist or login | Your IPTV provider | Depends on whether the provider holds the rights |
| The device | Google, Nvidia, Amazon and others | A legal device |
If you want a plain-English walkthrough of how these parts fit together, our TiviMate IPTV overview covers the app itself.
Why the content source is what matters
Copyright law protects broadcasts, sports feeds, films and series. A service needs licenses from rights holders to retransmit them. When a provider has those rights, watching through a player app is no different from watching through the provider’s own app.
When a provider rebroadcasts channels without permission, the service is unlicensed. In many countries the main legal pressure falls on the people running and selling those services, but viewers can still face consequences in some places, from warning letters to fines. Beyond the law, unlicensed services also tend to vanish without notice, which means lost money.
How to tell a licensed service from an unlicensed one
No single sign is proof either way, but a pattern of warning signs is telling. Use this checklist before you pay anyone for a playlist.
- A named business. A legitimate service has a company name, a real website, terms of service and a privacy policy. Anonymous sellers on chat apps are a red flag.
- Realistic pricing. Every premium sports league and cable network in one bundle for a few dollars a month does not match what licensed services pay for rights.
- Normal payment methods. Card payments with buyer protection are a good sign. Requests for gift cards or crypto only are a warning.
- Clear refund and support terms. You should know how to contact support and what happens if the service stops working.
- Public, consistent claims. A service that explains what it offers and where it is available is easier to trust than one that changes names every few months.

Licensed options that work with or alongside TiviMate
Big US live TV services such as YouTube TV, Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, Philo and DirecTV Stream use their own apps and do not hand out M3U playlists, so you watch them in their own apps rather than in TiviMate. Free ad-supported services such as Pluto TV, Tubi and Samsung TV Plus also run in their own apps.
TiviMate is useful for services that deliver a playlist or Xtream login. That includes some independent and international providers, plus your own legal sources, such as a home TV tuner or media server that outputs an M3U list. The player works the same way in each case; only the source changes.
Buying TiviMate Premium: official route vs cracked APKs
TiviMate has a free version and a paid Premium upgrade. The official way to buy Premium is the TiviMate Companion app from Google Play, also published by Armobsoft FZE. Its listing says it unlocks Premium on devices without Google Play and lets you manage activated devices. Prices and plan options change, so check the current price inside the Companion app before you pay.
You will also see “modded” or “cracked” TiviMate APKs that claim to unlock Premium for free. Avoid them. They are a breach of the developer’s terms and copyright, and they carry real security risks:
- Malware. Modified APKs from unknown sites can contain spyware, adware or code that turns your device into part of a botnet.
- Account and data theft. Your IPTV login, Wi-Fi details and any accounts on the device can be exposed.
- No updates. Cracked builds do not get the developer’s fixes, so bugs and guide problems pile up.
- Sudden breakage. Unofficial builds can stop working at any time.
On Fire TV, where TiviMate is not in the Amazon Appstore, use only the download link shown on the official tivimate.com site. Our TiviMate setup guide shows the safe install steps for Android TV, Google TV and Fire OS.
Staying on the safe side
A simple routine keeps your setup clean: install TiviMate from Google Play or the official site, buy Premium only through the Companion app, use a provider you have vetted, and keep your device’s software updated. If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is.
If you are looking for a service to load into TiviMate, our own plan, IPTV Journal, is a single 12-month option for $89 with an Xtream Codes login and EPG that work in the app. You can see the plan details here. Whatever you choose, check what rights a provider claims and what the law says where you live.
FAQ
Is TiviMate legal in the US?
The TiviMate app is a legal media player available on Google Play. Whether your use is legal depends on the content you load: a licensed service is fine, while a service that rebroadcasts channels without rights is not. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can you get in trouble for using TiviMate?
Using the app itself is not the issue. Problems come from watching unlicensed content through it, which can have consequences in some countries. Stick to services that hold the rights to their channels.
Is TiviMate on the Google Play Store?
Yes. TiviMate IPTV Player is listed on Google Play by Armobsoft FZE and is designed for Android TV devices. It is not in the Amazon Appstore, so Fire OS users install it from the official website instead.
Is a cracked TiviMate APK safe?
No. Cracked or modded APKs break the developer’s terms and can contain malware that steals logins or data. Buy Premium through the official TiviMate Companion app instead.
Does TiviMate come with channels?
No. TiviMate is a player only and ships with no channels. You add your own playlist or Xtream Codes login from a provider, and the app displays it.
