Indian IPTV lets you watch Indian TV channels over the internet instead of satellite or cable, which is how most of the diaspora in the US, UK, Canada and elsewhere now keep up with serials, news, films and cricket. The right choice depends on your language and country: some licensed services specialize in live channels, others in on-demand shows, and availability outside India varies a lot. This guide walks through the main languages, the licensed options and where they work, the devices to use and what to check before paying.
Live channels vs on-demand apps
Indian streaming splits into two kinds of service, and many families end up combining them.
- Live TV services stream channels as they air, including news, daily serials and live cricket. YuppTV and Sling TV’s desi packages are the best-known licensed examples outside India.
- On-demand apps such as ZEE5, SonyLIV and JioHotstar focus on catch-up episodes, films and originals from their own networks, sometimes with a few live news channels.
If your parents want to watch a serial at the same time as relatives in India, you need live channels. If you mostly binge web series and films, an on-demand app is cheaper.
Indian channels by language
India’s TV market is regional, and each language has its own leading networks. Here is a quick map of what to look for.
| Language | Popular networks and channels | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Hindi | Star Plus, Zee TV, Sony Entertainment, Colors, Aaj Tak and other news | YuppTV, Sling desi packs, ZEE5, SonyLIV |
| Tamil | Vijay TV, Sun TV, Zee Tamil, Colors Tamil | YuppTV, Sling Dakshin packs, ZEE5 |
| Telugu | Star Maa, Gemini TV, Zee Telugu, ETV | YuppTV, Sling Dakshin packs, ZEE5 |
| Malayalam | Asianet, Surya TV, Zee Keralam, Mazhavil Manorama | YuppTV, Sling Dakshin packs |
| Punjabi | PTC Punjabi, Zee Punjabi and regional music and news | YuppTV, ZEE5 |
| Bengali | Star Jalsha, Zee Bangla, Colors Bangla | YuppTV, Sling desi packs, ZEE5 |
Channel lineups change with carriage deals, so always check the current list for your country on the service’s own site. We have deeper guides on Hindi IPTV providers in the USA and Telugu IPTV providers in the USA.
Licensed Indian streaming options outside India
YuppTV
YuppTV is one of the longest-running Indian live TV services for the diaspora. Its App Store listing describes more than 250 live Indian channels across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Urdu and Gujarati, with up to seven days of catch-up. Pricing varies by country and package, and the listing notes that channel availability differs by region.
Sling TV desi packages (US)
In the US, Sling TV sells South Asian packages that do not require a Sling base plan. In late 2023 Sling added Disney Star channels such as Star Plus, Vijay TV, Asianet, Star Maa and Star Jalsha, with Desi Binge Plus listed at around $15 a month and Dakshin packs for South Indian languages at higher tiers. Sling’s site now shows Dakshin Flex and Dakshin Mega options, so check current prices before subscribing.
JioHotstar
JioHotstar, the merged JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar service, launched internationally in the UK, Canada and Singapore in September 2026 with a catalogue in more than 12 languages. Reported prices start at about £69.99 a year in the UK and CAD 49.99 a year in Canada. Live sports were not part of the international launch, and the service was not announced for the US, where Disney moved Hotstar content to other platforms in 2022.
ZEE5
ZEE5 has operated in the US since 2021 and offers content in many Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali and Punjabi, along with some live news channels. It regularly runs annual-plan offers, so compare the current price on its site.
SonyLIV
Since November 2025, Sony LIV has been available as a subscription through YouTube and YouTube TV in the US, UK, France, Germany and Australia. The US price was announced at $7.99 a month, billed through YouTube.
Devices that work best
Almost every Indian streaming service runs on the major platforms, but app quality differs. Before you buy, check that the service has an app for your TV platform.
- Amazon Fire TV and Google TV / Android TV have the widest app support, including IPTV players.
- Roku works well for Sling and several Indian apps; see our guide to streaming IPTV on Roku.
- Apple TV and smart TVs (Samsung, LG) support the big apps, but third-party IPTV players are more limited.
- Phones and tablets are handy for parents travelling or for watching cricket on the go.
If a service gives you an M3U or Xtream Codes login rather than its own app, you will need an IPTV player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro. These players ship no channels; they only play what your provider supplies.
What to look for in an Indian IPTV service
- Your languages, live. Confirm the exact channels you watch are included in your country, not just the language.
- Catch-up and EPG. Time zones make catch-up essential: an evening serial in India airs in the morning in the US.
- Cricket rights. Live cricket is often sold separately (for example through Willow in the US), so check before match season.
- Number of screens. Joint families often need several streams at once.
- Legal rights. IPTV technology is legal, but services that rebroadcast Indian channels without a license are not. Check that the provider holds the rights and that you follow local law.
- Support hours. Support that matches your time zone matters when a channel drops before a big episode.

Choosing the right setup for your family
For a single language and live serials, a licensed live service like YuppTV or a Sling desi pack is the most direct route. For films and web series, ZEE5, SonyLIV or JioHotstar (where available) cost less. Many households combine one live service with one on-demand app.
If you would rather have Indian channels alongside US, UK, sports and international channels in a single plan, our own IPTV Journal subscription is one option: 12 months for $89, with 20,000+ live channels, movies and series in HD/4K on all major devices and 24/7 support. Check the details on our pricing page and confirm your must-have channels with support before you buy.
