TiviMate Devices: Where It Works and the Alternatives

TiviMate devices are simple to sum up: TiviMate is an Android app built for TV screens and remote controls. It runs on Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV (Fire OS) devices, the NVIDIA Shield and most Android TV boxes. It does not run on Roku, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, or Samsung and LG smart TVs. This compatibility guide checks each device and gives you the legal alternative player or the cheap-stick fix where TiviMate is not available.

Device lists change, so treat this as accurate at the time of writing and confirm on tivimate.com or the Google Play listing. For installation steps, use our TiviMate setup guide.

Where TiviMate runs

The developer’s Google Play listing says the app is designed for Android TV and remote control navigation. That gives you four solid groups:

  • Android TV and Google TV: Chromecast with Google TV, the Google TV Streamer, and smart TVs that run Google TV or Android TV (for example many Sony, TCL and Hisense Google TV models). Install from Google Play.
  • Fire TV (Fire OS): Fire TV Sticks, Fire TV Cube and Fire TV smart TVs. TiviMate is not in the Amazon Appstore, so you sideload it using the official download link published on tivimate.com. Check your model first, since newer Fire TV devices may use a different operating system; our Firestick model check guide explains how.
  • NVIDIA Shield: install from Google Play. It is the strongest TiviMate device for recording and multi-view.
  • Android TV boxes: certified boxes install from Google Play. Uncertified boxes without Google Play can use the APK from tivimate.com, and Premium is unlocked with the TiviMate Companion app, which its listing says is intended for devices without Google Play.

Never use a TiviMate APK from a random site or a “modded Premium” build. Those copies can hide malware. Use Google Play or the link on tivimate.com.

Like TiviMate, every alternative listed here is a player only. None of them include channels.

Phones, tablets and Chromebooks

Does TiviMate work on an Android phone?

TiviMate’s listing says it is designed for TV and remote navigation, not touch screens. Even where it installs on a phone or tablet, the layout expects a remote and can be awkward with fingers. For watching on a phone, a touch-friendly player is a better choice; keep TiviMate for the TV.

TiviMate on Chromebook

Chromebooks run many Android apps from Google Play, but TV-only apps often do not appear in the Chromebook Play Store. If TiviMate is not offered, use a Chromebook-friendly Android player or VLC through ChromeOS’s Linux environment. We do not recommend sideloading TiviMate onto a Chromebook; it is not a supported setup.

Apple devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac

There is no official TiviMate for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac, and any App Store listing using the TiviMate name is not from its developer. Apple users have good native options instead:

  • iPhone and iPad: UHF, GSE Smart IPTV, IPTVX and VLC are App Store players that load M3U or Xtream logins.
  • Apple TV: IPTVX and UHF offer a guide-based interface similar to TiviMate. Our Apple TV IPTV player ranking compares them.
  • Mac: VLC and Kodi run on any Mac. Apple silicon Macs (M1 or later) can also run some iPad players.

App availability and prices change, so check the App Store listing before buying a Premium upgrade.

Roku, Windows, consoles and smart TVs

TiviMate on Roku

Roku cannot install Android apps and no longer allows private channels, so TiviMate cannot run there. Your options are a Roku Channel Store player, licensed live TV apps, or plugging an inexpensive Google TV or Fire TV stick into a spare HDMI port. Our IPTV on Roku guide compares these routes.

TiviMate for Windows

There is no Windows version. Some people run it inside an Android emulator, but that is unsupported and often clumsy with a mouse. VLC, Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client, or MyIPTV Player from the Microsoft Store are simpler.

PS5 and Xbox

The PlayStation Store has no general IPTV player, so a PS5 is limited to licensed apps. Xbox can run MyIPTV Player and Kodi from the Microsoft Store. For a TiviMate experience on the same TV, add a stick.

Samsung and LG smart TVs

Samsung TVs run Tizen and LG TVs run webOS, so neither can install TiviMate. Their app stores carry players such as IBO Player Pro and Smart IPTV, often with a small activation fee. If you specifically want TiviMate on a smart TV, a Google TV or Fire TV stick costs less than most TV-app activations combined with the hassle.

Our plan, IPTV Journal, is 12 months for $89 and gives you an Xtream Codes login and EPG that work in TiviMate and the alternatives above; see the plan details. If you want one player across more platforms, IPTV Smarters Pro is the usual comparison.

FAQ

Can I get TiviMate on Roku?

No. Roku cannot run Android apps, so TiviMate is not available. Use a Roku Channel Store player or licensed apps, or plug a Google TV or Fire TV stick into a spare HDMI port to use TiviMate on the same TV.

Is there TiviMate for Mac or iPad?

No. TiviMate is Android only. On iPad, try UHF, GSE Smart IPTV, IPTVX or VLC. On Mac, VLC and Kodi work on any model, and Apple silicon Macs can run some iPad players.

Does TiviMate work on Apple TV?

No. There is no tvOS version. IPTVX and UHF are the closest Apple TV alternatives with a TV guide and favorites.

Can I use TiviMate on a Samsung or LG smart TV?

Not directly, because these TVs use Tizen and webOS. You can use a player from the TV’s own store, or add an Android-based stick to run TiviMate.

Does TiviMate work on Android phones?

TiviMate is designed for TV screens and remotes, and its listing says it is not optimized for touch devices. A phone-focused IPTV player will be much easier to use on a phone.

Do I need Premium on every device?

Premium is managed through your TiviMate account in the Companion app, which lets you see and manage activated devices. Check the device limit for your plan in the Companion app before adding more TVs.
